Student’s life at risk
The high rate of theft in
campus and residence is becoming out of control, not to mention the parking
areas it’s seriously out of control. Students need to take this issue serious
because they are the ones who can improve the security around the campus by
changing their behaviours and becoming more conscious of their surroundings.
Students should be warned to avoid incidence of insecurity around the campus
Mr Joose, CPUT head security declares.
After hours, students have been informed to always
be in groups when leaving the campus, so that insecurity can be reduced. Mr
Joose said “A lot of crimes have been reported by students in their residences
but nothing can be done if students don’t prevent incidents themselves “Joose
claims.
Students need to start
paying attention on the rules and procedures of residence, anybody who does not
stay on res inside the residence without special permission. However students
don’t always abide by the res rules even if is for their own safety.
Students need to keep their
students cards safe as once a student lose its, it can be stolen. This can
result in somebody taking the card and use it to access the university and
steal useful resources such as computers.
Students need to keep this
need regarding security at campus. They must keep their valued items in hidden
place to avoid theft. Keep their bags in front of them and make sure that it’s
closed. When they are leaving campus they need to be in groups and avoid use of
cell phones in the streets as the criminal are highly in need of them.
The improvement of security
in campus does not only depend on people work for security in the campus but
also on the students. They are the ones who should take full responsibility of
the equipment as it is important in their daily lives. Students need to improve
the security and reduce insecurity so that the campus cannot be at risk of
theft.
