THE OTHER SIDE OF SOCIAL NETWORKING...

Chatting on social networks is a hip but it also has some dangers

Dinner time in most households is family time, a chance to interact. This is the time where you are likely to hear things like how was your day at work? And what are your plans for tomorrow? Those conversations no longer happen in many families and social networks takes away the family bond because they have everything to do with it.

Social networking is not bad in itself, allowing the cyber relationships to replace true family interaction is dangerous. Other experts believe that cyber technology is hindering the ability of children to develop social skills, and nurture interpersonal relationships. Family conversations have been replaced by texting sessions. Family activity time has given way to countless hours of internet surfing, and as a result families do not enjoy the special bond that comes from intimate interaction with those who are closest to us.

If you spend too much time on social networks you tend to ignore those around you. You may not realise it but that is actually being rude and could offenders especially those who are not connected to social networks. It has been noted especially in schools that people who spend time on social networks tend to struggle to spell words properly because they are used to shortcut words when they are chatting on social networks.
Eventually you become more comfortable with technology than people. Using social networks make you struggle to deal with interpersonal situations and getting to know other people in real life.

Instead of being unaware of what is happening in the world you could research certain topics and learn new words to increase your vocabulary. This could enhance your intellectual capabilities.
